Summary
Shulkerboxes is operated by Adaptive Perception, Inc. It is free Minecraft hosting. Players under the recording age where they live play unrecorded.
Shulkerboxes is free because gameplay is recorded. We record player positions and actions, blocks placed and broken, inventories and the world files over time, tied to your Minecraft identity. Chat is recorded only if you opt in. We use the recordings to build datasets for training and evaluating AI systems, and we license those datasets to other companies. Licensed datasets are de-identified: you appear under a random id instead of your username or Minecraft id, and they never include your IP address, your skin, or your chat unless you opted in. We also keep your account, your Minecraft identity, your saved world and the records needed to provide hosting, control access and recover the world.
In the game, choose Let's play or Play unrecorded. You are asked once per notice version. Play unrecorded: you play and are not recorded. Change your mind any time: /recording on. The owner cannot choose for another player.
Details
Hosting records include account and server ownership, invitations, your Minecraft UUID, the eligibility check result, your connection, the exact notice shown, your decision and its time, and the state needed to run the server. The saved world contains normal Minecraft world and player state and may contain text players place in it. The saved world and server logs are kept as part of hosting, separately from gameplay recordings.
Shulkerboxes is run by Adaptive Perception, Inc. Servers and saved worlds live on Google Cloud in the US, accounts in Supabase in the US, and the website on Vercel. Want your saved world? Download it from World files in your server's Settings.
Your world is saved to storage when the server stops, as a recovery checkpoint. When an owner deletes a server, its saved world and checkpoints are kept for 30 days, then deleted. Account and hosting records are kept while the account exists. Deleted files can remain recoverable in storage for seven more days. Leaving or withdrawing does not erase gameplay already recorded or anything already built. You can ask us to delete the link between your Minecraft identity and your recordings; the privacy policy explains how.
Stop being recorded any time: type /recording off. You keep playing.
To unlink your past recordings from you, email support@shulkerboxes.com.
Contact support@shulkerboxes.com to ask for access, a correction, deletion, or a copy of your data. We answer within 30 days. Only the server owner can ask for the saved world, because it is shared with the other players on it; we explain what we can hand over or remove.
